Depression

Depression is more than feeling sad or unmotivated; it is often the body’s way of signalling overwhelm, exhaustion, or long-standing emotional pain that has gone unmet. From a trauma-informed lens, depression can develop when your nervous system has been carrying too much for too long, leaving you feeling shut down, disconnected, or unable to access the parts of yourself that once felt grounded and alive.

You may notice numbness, heaviness, irritability, withdrawal, or a loss of interest in things you once enjoyed. These experiences are not character flaws - they are protective responses shaped by stress, trauma, or emotional neglect.

In therapy, we create a compassionate space to understand what your depression is trying to communicate, reconnect with your needs, and gently support your system in moving toward safety, energy, and emotional clarity. Healing becomes possible when you no longer have to hold everything alone.
