HELPING YOU REWRITE THE STORIES THAT NO LONGER SERVE YOU

Narrative Therapy

Have you ever noticed how the way you think about yourself can shape the way you live your life?

Maybe you have caught yourself thinking, "I'm not good enough," "I always fail," or "I'll never change." Over time, these beliefs can begin to feel like facts rather than stories we've developed through our experiences.

Many of these stories are not the ones we consciously choose. They often develop through childhood experiences, relationships, difficult life events, trauma, or repeated messages we have received from others. When these stories go unchallenged, they can influence our confidence, relationships, decisions, and emotional well-being.

Narrative Therapy offers an opportunity to step back from these beliefs, explore where they came from, and discover new ways of understanding yourself that better reflect your strengths, resilience, and values.

At Holding Space for You Psychotherapy, we use Narrative Therapy as part of a compassionate, evidence-based approach to help you better understand your experiences, reconnect with your strengths, and create meaningful, lasting change.

WHAT IS NARRATIVE THERAPY?

Narrative Therapy is an evidence-based approach that explores the stories we develop about ourselves throughout our lives.

Our experiences shape the beliefs we hold about who we are, what we deserve, and what we're capable of. While some of these beliefs are helpful, others may leave us feeling stuck, disconnected, or limited.

Narrative Therapy helps you look at these stories with curiosity instead of judgment. Together, we'll explore where they came from, identify the strengths and resilience that may have been overlooked, and begin creating new perspectives that feel more balanced, compassionate, and empowering.

What Can Narrative Therapy Help With?

Narrative Therapy can support a wide range of concerns, including:

Depending on your needs and goals, Narrative Therapy may be thoughtfully integrated with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, Attachment-Based Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy to create a personalized therapy experience.

Questions About Narrative Therapy

The experiences you've had are an important part of your story, but they don't have to define how the story continues.

If you've been carrying beliefs that leave you feeling stuck, not good enough, or disconnected from yourself, Narrative Therapy can help you explore those stories with compassion and begin creating new ones that reflect your resilience, strengths, and hopes for the future.

We offer a complimentary consultation where we'll learn more about what brings you to therapy, answer your questions, and explore how we can support you.
